Over the past two years, we have had an enormous amount of requests asking if we could produce the original Carona saddle blanket. The blanket was made popular over fifty years ago by the western heroes we followed in dime store novels, movies and early television.
It was the most beautiful saddle blanket ever made, each with its subtle differences. The artisans that possessed the skill were called masters, and the Spanish word used to describe this craft is chumetearo pronounced (chew-me-te-aro).
In early 2006 we set out to create the authentic saddle blanket, but quickly learned that the skill and detail needed to produce this blanket had not been handed down to the new generation.
We had to find someone that still possessed the art of chumetearo, we found such a person, and with a select staff eager to learn we were on our way. Having spent thousands of hours, we at White Eagle have mastered the art of chumetearo. Each saddle blanket is hand made therefore, limited quantities are available each month.
It is our sincere wish that a new generation of riders will experience this beautiful blanket, from trail riding to show ring, no other western saddle blanket could possibly stir the senses and evoke the historic memories of the old west.
